Secular Work

From the journal of the Reverend George Whitefield as he prepared for his trip to Georgia to preach there and supply resources for the orphanage:

“I am not usually so much engaged in secular work; but I as readily do this as preach, when it is the will of God. It is a great mistake that some run into, to suppose that religion consists only in saying our prayers. I think…he only will adorn the Gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ in all things, who is careful to perform all the civil offices of life…with a single eye to God’s glory…This is the morality I preach.”

Quoted from George Whitefield, Vol 1, by Arnold Dallimore

“Therefore whether you eat or drink or whatever you do, do all for the glory of God.” 1 Cor 10:31
