Can These Bones Live?

“And He said to me, ‘Son of man, can these bones live?’ So I answered, ‘O Lord God, You know.'” Ezekiel 37:3

My dear friend, never give up hope that someone you love may be saved. Ezekiel saw a valley “full of bones”. They were lifeless, breathless, and helpless. Indeed they “were very dry.” Such is the spiritual condition of everyone outside of Christ. But can they live? Can they be brought to life?

Yes! Under the power and influence of the Almighty influence of the Living God dead bones can come to life. “O dry bones, hear the word of the Lord! (37:4).” There is no one in the world beyond His power to save. He says to every one of the elect in due time “Behold, O My people, I will open your graves (37:12).” He will bring every one of His chosen ones to life at the appointed time. “I will put My Spirit in you, and you shall live (37:14).”

Do not stop praying for that lost child, lost parent, lost spouse, lost friend. They may seem utterly unmoved by spiritual things today. They may have no sense of their need of Jesus Christ. They may believe they are safe, secure, and therefore unworried about a coming judgment or eternity. They are dead. Spiritually dead. But these bones can live! The Lord can breathe upon them. He can awaken them to their hopeless state, and draw them to Christ by faith through His Spirit. These bones may live! O blessed hope that we have in Christ! O wonderful power that belongs to God! There is nothing in all the world that so displays His glory as the saving of a dead sinner. “Then you shall know that I am the Lord (37:6).”
